Miss Pi was found in a bush as a tiny kitten with both of her back legs severely broken. She was brought to the rescue right away to receive medical care and be placed in a volunteer foster home for rehabilitation. She soon proved that her spirit was strong, climbing the drapes with two broken legs! After several months and a lot of medical care she was adopted into her new home, where she is now growing up happy and healthy.
Before he came to Animal Talk Rescue, Johnny Boy was living with an alcoholic owner who loved him, but could not properly provide for him. Once at the Rescue, he received medical care, healthy food, and lots of love until he could be placed for adoption. As an older cat, Johnny Boy would have been at risk in another shelter that euthanizes "un-adoptable" cats. Luckily for Johnny Boy, Animal Talk Rescue is a no-kill rescue. He was given the time he needed to find his forever home, where he is now living happily with his new family.
To end the plight and suffering of homeless, neglected and abused companion animals, and to educate the public about the benefits of spaying and neutering.
About the Rescue
Animal Talk Pet Shop opened its doors in 1990. It wasn't long before homeless cats and kittens began to find their way to Animal Talk's doorstep and Animal Talk Rescue was formed. The rescue worked for 10 years before the decision was made to become a full 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization. Animal Talk Rescue was made official on March 1, 2000 and since then the Rescue has experienced amazing growth. The year of 2007 saw 1155 cats and kittens placed into new adoptive homes.
While the rescue focus has been primarily with cats and kittens, rescue of any abused, abandoned or neglected companion animals is undertaken, provided there is space available. In past years, dogs, puppies and even iguanas have been rescued, treated and cared for until suitable new caretakers have been found.
Kittens and cats are accepted from their legal caretakers (we do not purchase them) by appointment on Sundays. Orphaned (6 weeks and under) kittens are accepted at anytime. Due to our limited space we can only accept them as we find homes for others. We cannot accept lost and found animals, the law states they must be handled by your local Animal Control.
