Monday, November 22, 2010 the dojo closed due to a Winter Storm. When the Shoreline School District Closes due to weather, the dojo will close too!
Saturday, October 9, 2010 belt test and rank promotions will be conducted from 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm. Selected candidates for colored belt rank testing and promotions are required to have their “Intent to Promote” forms signed by their parent(s) and an academic teacher at least 1 week prior to thetesting date.Family and friends are invited to attend.
Forms received afterwards will be charged $15.
Complete the Registration and Athlete Waiver forms and return with check to:

Payments: Make checks or money orders payable to the WA Karate Services. A $25.00 fee will be charged for all returned checks. Sorry, we are unable to accept credit cards.
Rules: Modified Traditional Karate-do International rules will be in effect.
Dress Code: Athletes must wear a solid white gi. Sleeves and pants must be hemmed to appropriate length. (No rolled up sleeves or pant legs) One organization Karate patch may be worn on the left chest. Officials must wear grey slacks, a white shirt, a blue or red tie, black shoes, and a blue blazer. Coaches must wear coachs attire, athletic shoes, and a team or coaches shirt or jacket.
Mandatory Equipment: Helmets with attached face shields for all athletes 18 and under, mouth guards for all, groin cups for all male fighters, naugahyde knuckle pads for all, red, blue or white is acceptable. (No dipped foam or elastic cloth hand pads). Proper uniform and mandatory equipment required to participate.
Optional Equipment: Shin and instep guards for juniors, shin guards for adults, chest protectors for female & junior fighters, certified sport glasses with strap or soft contact lenses only, face shields attached to helmets for adults.
Disallowed items: Headbands, jewelry, colored t-shirts, metal hair clips. No long and/or dirty fingernails, or rolled up sleeves and/or pant legs.

Dear dojo family,
My turn to shift into a more independent life of self- and world- exploration has inevitably arrived, as I head off to Western Washington University this Fall! When a sempai makes this change, the dojo follows into its own transition of changing roles and uncertainity as to how the leadership positions in the dojo will be filled. After the sempais who I held in esteem Chris, Brad, Brian, Shirin, Katrina, and Justin and my leadership peers Kate, Bria, Tim, and others suddenly had all physically moved on, I was left feeling rather panicked under the pressure of living up to their influence in attempt to carry on the responsibilities they left behind.

We are participating in a food drive with the Emergency Food Network and Northwest harvest. This is a project working to “Fill the Bowl” in Tacoma. Hopefully the drive overall will raise enough food to break a Guinness World Record. Please bring your donations to the dojo and leave them in the yellow box by the dojo entrance. All donations must be turned in by September 15th which isnt far! Thanks for your help!!!
September 11th is themakeup testing date. Blue Belts and Under will be from 1-2:30 and Purple Belts and above will be from 3-5. Feel free to bring your family and friends to enjoy this experience with you and to cheer you on!

Keep posted for a new schedule set to begin this September. The classes are being designed to meet the specific needs of our karate students and their evolving skills.
You are all invited to play a softball game with all your karate friendsnext Saturday August 28th, at 3:30.

There are some BBQ grills at the field if someone wishes to grill some hot dogs, but lets keep the food simple!
We will plan on having big folks, lil’ folks and everyone in between play.
Mark your calendars for a fun afternoon,(and no gis, they might get dirty!)

The dojo of USA Karate Academy will be closed September 3, 4 and 6th in observance of Labor Day! Have a safe holiday weekend.
Rank promotions and belt award ceremonies for the 22 testing candidates will be conducted Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm for Juniors and 6:15 pm – 7:45 pm for Teens and Adults. Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of class. Spectators are welcome and may bring their cameras and celebratory support and energy. All candidates should be in a complete karate gi. (NO T-Shirts). Those students are not eligible for graduation at this time will be receiving their stripes to recognize their good attendance and steady progress.
