International Adoption Agency Checklist
There are many ways of comparing agencies, here are a few common questions and answers about Americans Adopting Orphans...

Do we have to re-adopt our child in the United States?
You have legally adopted your child in the eyes of both the foreign and United States governments. You are now legally responsible for the welfare of your child, and can now claim your child as a dependent on your taxes. However, re-adoption is very strongly recommended.

How healthy are the children available from other countries?
In general, the children are very healthy. They integrate well into families, and do well throughout their lives. Long-term studies have shown that adopted children do as well or better in life than children in biological families.

How can we avoid unethical adoption practices?
When problems are seen in adoption, they are frequently associated with private individuals (facilitators), attorneys, or orphanages that are able to directly match specific children with pre-adoptive families. These parties have the opportunity to make vast amounts of money by the standards of their country in this process.

International Adoption Home Study Age and Health Recommendations
One of the most stressful times for any family adopting internationally can be the home study. The adoptive parents want to present themselves well, and to be presented well by their home study provider. At the end of each home study, the home study provider makes a recommendation as a part of the Home Study Pre-Placement Report.
