DUIs throughout the State of Washington are not prosecuted similarly. Where you were arrested and by which law enforcement agency makes a difference, not only in the outcome of your case but in terms of what consequences you could be facing within the first 24 to 72 hours. For example, DUI arrests occurring within the City of Seattle are filed quickly resulting in immediate arraignment dates. Seattle DUI charges often lead to the imposition of bail and other restrictive conditions at arraignment. For DUI arrests occurring in Tacoma or Pierce County, individuals facing a second or subsequent DUI charge might be placed on home detention while the case is pending. A person arrested for DUI in Fife may likely have to sit in jail for several days without bail before seeing a judge. In every Washington DUI case there are a number of very time sensitive matters that must be addressed soon after arrest, if not immediately. In almost every case a hearing must be requested from the Washington Department of Licensing within 20 days of arrest or face automatic license suspension. Some courts, depending on the jurisdiction routinely impose bail, insallation of an ignition interlock device or even placement into home detention as a condition of release at arraignment. In many courts, that arraignment will occur with 72 hours of the time of arrest. If you have a history of DUI or DUI related arrests, whether in Washington or another state, it is even more important that you start planning now. Follow the links below to help get you started on the most time sensitive matters first.

Virtually all DUI cases follow a similar progression. There is an arrest, threats to your driving privileges, the filing of criminal charges, and the criminal process itself from arraignment potentially through trial. So that you can best prepare yourself, we have created a complete guide to the entire process. It lays out prospective timelines and as well as the advice you will need to make sure all of your rights are safegaurded. While there are differences in this process from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, most follow essentially this same path.
Take the mystery out of the process that lies ahead and feel more secure about the outcome. Review the summaries we have provided or contact one of our Washington DUI attorneys for a full consultation.
Breath/Blood Alcohol Calculator
One of the biggest surprises many of our clients encounter is the level of their breath test. Use the simple BAC calculator below to get a feel for what your BAC should have been based on the amount you had to drink, the type of drinks consumed, the time period within which they were consumed, and your approximate weight. These results are simply approximations. Each person metabolizes alcohol differently and this type of BAC calculator can't account for those differences. However, if your BAC results were much larger than you believe they should have been, contact us to discuss reasons why that might be.
Please complete the following items, then press calculate to obtain the BAC estimate.
