The former owner of the school has given the records of incomplete students to the Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL). All students who still need to finish will be contacted by the DOL by the middle of November.
The DOL has made arrangements with Defensive Driving School (which has a Kent branch located 4 miles away from the former Evergreen location) to finish up students who have already started their courses. Students will be able to get credit for the hours that have been completed as long as the DOL has the records verifying hours of attendance and students are able to pass an evaluation in both the classroom
and in the car.
Defensive Driving School has agreed to finish up students at a rate of $35 for each driving hour remaining and $8 for each 2 hour classroom session. Students who haven’t completed at least 50% of the course will
be required to complete a full class. The cost for the entire course will be $250. In order to qualify for
this rate, the Department of Licensing will need to provide the documentation showing that the student was affected by the Evergreen closure.
