Regina Maloney and Sue Hagberg are co-owners, directors, and teachers here at Sky's The Limit Montessori. We have been in operation since 1991. Our school is Washington State Certified through OSPI (Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction) for private schools.
Our mission at Sky's The Limit Montessori is to provide a rich, safe, and loving environment where your child can: cultivate a high self-esteem, learn at his or her own pace, and develop a love of learning. Careful consideration is given to each student's unique learning style and it is our goal to establish your child's education foundation. After doing so, we build upon that foundation year after year, helping him or her achieve his or her personal best.
The Montessori philosophy is the cornerstone of our school, while incorporating many of the positive attributes of traditional and private education. By approaching education in this manner, we help prepare our students for smooth transitions into new environments once the time comes for them to leave us.
We are a nondenominational Christian based school. Although we do not teach any type of religious doctrine, nor do we have a formal Bible study, some of the materials used in the classroom contain quotes from the Bible to teach a moral or virtue. In addition, we offer a blessing or a song of thanksgiving for our food at lunch; and we celebrate a number of holidays throughout the year, including Christmas and Easter.
Each day, students and staff gather as a community in Morning Assembly. It is here where we: practice songs, honor birthdays, give spotlights, learn sign-language, enjoy special speakers, practice for programs, and a myriad of other activities throughout the year. We always end our Morning Assembly with The Pledge of Allegiance and The Star-Spangled Banner.
Second Step is a program for schools and families to utilize, with the intention of encouraging children to use their communication skills to help them interact successfully with others. We use Second Step in an effort to teach our students good social skills, in and away from school. The program emphasizes empathy, impulse control, and anger management. In unison with this program, we foster virtues such as: doing unto others as you would have them do unto you, finding joy in another's accomplishments, helping your neighbor and learning to be sensitive to the needs of others. By placing an emphasis on these virtues, children develop grace, courtesy, and manners.
Both the administration and staff at Sky's The Limit Montessori have a passion for what we do. We love children and we enjoy being a part of their growth and development. It would be our pleasure to answer any further questions you may have in regards to our school. Parent Information Nights are held by-monthly in the evenings, please call to confirm the time and date of our next meeting.
We hope you will join us and allow us to become partners in your child's education.
