There are three colleagues. Mr. Robert "Bert" Williams L.Ac. M.AOM received his masters degree from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland Oregon and completed an advanced clinical internship at the Nan Jing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Nanjing, China. He is currently practicing at the Lake Oswego clinic. Dr. Noriko Hosoyamada DAOM, L.Ac, practices at the Vancouver clinic part time. Ms. Janet Lurie, L.Ac., MaCOM, who will continue to cover any patient overload while Nikki is out of the office. Nikki is very sensitive to the needs and wellbeing of each and every one of her patients. That is why she pursued her higher level education, "To Better Help You"!
Biography of Nikki Medghalchy
Graduated from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland with a Master's degree (1999) and a Doctoral degree (2007) in Acupuncture and Oriental Herbal Medicine. She also trained and interned at the China Nanjing International Acupuncture University and Training Center in Nanjing, China, with a specialty in cardiovascular medicine, with further training in the doctoral program in women's health and geriatric medicine; also trained in Seoul, Korea during this period. A Diplomat of Acupuncture, certified by the National Commission for Certification, she holds an acupuncture license in the states of Washington and Oregon. She has training in Enzyme Therapy (Dark Field) for gastrointestinal disorder from Santa Fe, NM.
Nikki has a unique background in medicine. She was a dental hygienist and trained in nursing school in Iran. She moved to the United States in 1976. She was trained in dialysis as a patient care and equipment technician at the Diagnostic Clinic of Houston, with certification from Seratronics for the successful completion of the DRS4 Dialyzer Reprocessing System in Advanced Course. She trained in Biomedical Engineering at Texas Southern University of Houston until 1986, then moved to Vancouver, WA to continue her profession in home and center dialysis at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Nikki considers prevention the best cure to the disease process. She focuses on helping and educating her patients as how to take better care of themselves.
Dr. Noriko Hosoyamada, DAOM, L.Ac., CST, provides a unique treatment of two modalitiesAcupuncture and CranioSacral Therapy (CST).
She holds acupuncture licenses in the states of Washington and Oregon. She earned a Masters and Doctoral degrees in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AOM) from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in 2002 and 2009 respectively. Dr. Noriko is also a certified CST therapist by the Upledger Institute.
Both AOM and CST are holistic healthcare systems. While AOM focuses on restoring energetic balance in the patient, CST, a gentle hands-on technique, helps the patient release restrictions due to physical or emotional causes. She uses both AOM and CST to maximize their effects.
Dr. Norikos specialties are stress-induced health problems. Prolonged stress can disrupt almost all organ systems such as cardiovascular, immune, neurological, digestive, musculoskeletal, respiratory, and reproductive. Thus, stress contributes to a wide range of diseases including anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, tension and migraine headaches, TMJ disorder, irritable bowel syndrome, infertility, and menstruation disorders.
Robert "Bert" Williams L.Ac. is a graduate of Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, where he earned his Masters degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. His post-graduate program was through the Nan Jing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) held at the Acupuncture and Gastrointestinal Department of the Jian Zhong TCM Hospital, Jiang Su Research Institute of TCM, and the Qin Huai TCM Hospital. He is licensed by the State of Oregon to practice acupuncture, and is a Nationally Certified Diplomate of Acupuncture via the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine). He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Western Michigan University.
Bert is drawn to Oriental medicine because of its effectiveness in treating the whole person with a non-invasive approach. In addition, he finds great value in treating the root causes of illness, and not merely the symptoms. Such depth of treatment prevents recurrence of disease and discourages new illness from occurring.
