Stewardship Ingathering and Harvest Luncheon

The ingathering of pledges will be at the Saturday night and Sunday 10:15 services (no 8 am service) on November 6 & 7. Our parish will gather at 11:30 for a Harvest Dinner potluck, with main dish and beverages provided by the Vestry. For the potluck, please bring the following to share: If your last name begins with the letters A thru H, please bring a dessert; letters J thru R a casserole; and letters S-Z a salad.
Our guest speakers will be the Rev.Margaret Fisher of St. Johns Cathedral and the Rev. David Walker, Diocesan Treasurer. They will be explaining Organizing for Mission, a Diocesan initiative, in cooperation with the Episcopal Relief and Development, to help end hunger and suffering of the poorest people in our community and in our world.
This movement has spread to many of the dioceses in the country and reminds us of Christs words: Whenever you did it for any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you did it for me. Matthew 25:40 (CEV)
Come and enjoy a feast and fellowship and learn about this exciting new opportunity for our church and our diocese.

Stewardship describes how we manage and use the bounteous gifts that God has given us in service of the Gospel and for the sake of the world. St. Stephens, in its individual members and as a community, has been richly blessed with many gifts. Read what one of our individual members said on October 31, 2010. Stewardship by John Lloyd.

St. Stephens Episcopal Church proclaims in its Mission Statement: In response to Gods love, we invite and welcome all to gather in worship, grow in faith, and serve as stewards of Gods creation. So what does that really mean? It means that we are a community eager to worship God through sacrament and liturgy, to deepen our faith, and to serve others in need.
Founded in 1957, our beautiful and beloved church was built and created to provide people the opportunity to come together in many ways. In addition to Saturday and Sunday services, our church family gathers for fellowship and for outreach. From the summer Basketball Camp to our annual Wine Tasting and Auction, we invite community members to participate and to find what a friendly, active, warm group we are. Our members serve food at Crosswalk and at the Holy Trinity Dinner Table, sew quilts for needy and recuperating children, donate toiletry items to women in shelters, maintain a recycling program . . . and much, much more.
As you explore St. Stephens through our website, perhaps you will find ways you would like to connect with God and with others. Most of all, we welcome you to join us in worship and in fellowship.
