Fireplace Doors provided by Steve Gray - Seattle, Washington
When you get fireplace doors from me you are benefitting from over thirty years of experience working with fireplaces and their heating appliances. I started by making top quality custom fireplace inserts and woodstoves and had a shop with as many as seventeen emplyees during the busy season. We made truly custom units and some of them were true masterpieces, and they were all designed by my customers and myself.
Even though these were of higher quaiity and burned cleaner than the good factory made wood stoves and inserts, all of the small manufacturers were put out of business by the wood stove emmision law, which was, of course, backed by the large wood stove manufacturers. I then started making airtight custom fireplace doors, working home alone in my garage, where I belonged all the time anyway, and have had the good fortune to be able to produce many incredibly beautiful designs. The result of all this experience is that i have a profound knowledge of how and why fireplace doors can heat and am aware of all the problems that it is possible to run into and how to solve them.
The custom doors that I make cost more so little by little I started selling more and more factory made fireplace doors, and Portland Willamette is the gold standard for those.
So if you come to me you benefit from well over thirty years of experience as a manufacturer and installer, compared to some wood stove salesmen, who are fresh off the used car lot. Also, most dealers don't want to show you the less expensive models and they charge over list price, I don't do that. I'm proud to claim that I began the trend in the Puget Sound area of wood stove salespeople wearing blue jeans. I did it for practical reasons though, because on the other side of our showroom back door was a big steel fabricating shop. There was also a big window for customers to look into the shop.
I can help you determine which is the best system for your situation and help you with suggestions on the different models available and the different styling combinations that they have. I can also install super heat resistant neaceram glass into your doors to make them safer and stronger than any other fireplace doors available.
I can make house calls at just about any time. I'll be happy to come over to look at your fireplace and your situation, make measurements and discuss details of what is available.
People who are out of the area get free shipping instead of free house calls.
