Watch the local news channels (KOMO 4, KING 5, & KIRO 7) until all public and private schools have been announced. Look for: Federal Way Public Schools.
Or, click one of these links: SchoolReport.org, KOMO 4, KING 5, or KIRO 7.
Look for "Federal Way Public Schools." (If one of the links doesn't work, try another one...links to other web sites can move without warning.)
If Federal Way Schools are 2 hours late
Important: Please listen to the weather report, so you can come early and pick up your child if weather conditions worsen.
For Extended Care students: If it snows during winter or spring break, Federal Way Schools may be closed. Please check local news for Spring Valleys own announcement.
The decision to bring your child to school is yours.
The safety of our students and staff is very important for all of us.
May 21, 2010 -- Salmon Release Our Salmon release into the Hylebos Creek was a great success, and the whole school (including Mrs. Justus - our school's founder) really enjoyed participating.
Every year the 3rd and 4th grade students raise Salmon from eggs. After they are mature enough, the whole school gets involved in releasing the Salmon into the Hylebos Creek. It's a fun and important event, because we are caring for our environment by helping the declining Salmon population.
April 2010 - Our "Jump Rope for Heart Fundraiser" raised $1506.46 for the American Heart Association.
Our 1st through 8th Graders did a GREAT job!
January 29, 2010 - We had our annual Open House, and it was GREAT!
The Preschool and PrePrimary classrooms (Pre-K & Kindergarten) had their students' work on display; they have clearly been learning a lot!
The Primary age students (1st & 2nd grade) had wonderful State Presentations and obviously enjoyed the research they had done.
The older students (3rd through 8th) worked very hard on their Botany Science Fair Presentations, and did a great job explaining them to our younger students and visiting parents.
Our Coho Salmon tank was a huge hit with all ages -- the Salmon are really growing nicely, and the entire school is excited to release them into the Hylebos Creek after Spring Break.
December 1, 2009 - Marta Justus Foldi, Mrs. Justus' daughter, passed away at 72. More details...
March 27, 2009 - Jump Rope for Heart - Our students raised money for the American Heart Association through pledges for the Jump Rope for Heart. Many students had not jump roped much before this event; our staff really enjoyed watching them go from beginners to great jump ropers! What a healthy way to raise money! Great job!
