Dr. Carey is an Ophthalmologist and Eye Plastic Surgeon, a specialty commonly referred to as Oculoplastic Surgery. The specialty includes eyelid surgery of both the upper and lower eyelids including cosmetic eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), ptosis surgery (droopy eyelid repair), and CO2 laser resurfacing for wrinkle reduction. Reconstructive eyelid surgery includes repair of entropion (eyelid turning in), ectropion (eyelid turning out), and repair of the eyelid following tumor or trauma. The specialty also includes management of diseases and trauma to the orbit such as Graves Disease (thyroid eye disease), lacrimal disorders (tear duct obstruction), orbital tumors, and trauma. Dr. Carey has personally operated on World Class athletes for orbital fracture repair returning them to compete in the NFL, NBA, and the Pac-10. Dr. Carey volunteered in Iraq in the summer of 2008 as a facial trauma surgeon.
