SUMMER CHINOOK RUN IS FINALLY HERE ! SEASON OPENER STARTED OUT WITH CHINOOK SALMON IN THE 12 TO 15 POUND RANGE. MOST ARE BEING CAUGHT IN THE POPULAR POINT DEFIANCE AREA. BROWNS POINT, POINT ROBINSON, POINT RICHARDSON AND WEST SIDE OF VASHON NEAR GIRL SCOUT CAMP HAS PRODUCED SOME BIG CHINOOK, 20 T0 30 LBS. COHO ARE IN THE USUAL TOP 30 FT, USING WHITE COHO KILLERS.
DEEP TROLLING AT 60 TO 90 FEET OF DOWNRIGGER CABLE WITH SPOONS AND HOOCHIES BEHIND DOUBLE GLOW FLASHERS HAS BEEN THE BIG PRODUCERS. ALSO JIGGING WITH LURE JIGS AT THE CLAYBANKS AND THE PULP MILL AT THE PUYALLUP RIVERHAS PRODUCED SOME OF THE BIGGER CHINOOKS. ONE 28# CHINOOK REPORTED ALONG WITH MANY 10# TO 22#

Winter "Blackmouth" Chinook season is open February 1 through April 30th, then reopens on June 1st, remaining open through December 31st, 2010. Ling Cod season is open May 1st through June 15. Other Bottomfishing is open all year.
When targeting Salmon, I use light tackle on Downrigger trolling gear, or drift fish with Herring or jigged lures for Kings, Coho, Silverbrights/Keta, and on odd-numbered years, Pink Salmon/Humpies are available. The season ends on December 31.
In addition to Salmon and Bottomfish, I offer Crabbing when in season, along with cruising, commercial
surveys, and memorials or scattering of ashes by special arrangement.
