Program Overview

The Northwest School of Innovative Learning (NWSOIL) is an alternative learning program designed for students from kindergarten through high school who are unable to successfully navigate a “typical” school setting. A full academic program tailored for the individual student is provided, along with therapeutic treatment. NWSOIL has been in operation since January 3, 2000 and is approved through the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction as a non-public agency (NPA). We have established a comprehensive and therapeutic program that has helped meet the special education, mental health and psychiatric needs of students from school districts throughout the Puget Sound area. As an Extended School Year (ESY) program, NWSOIL is open throughout the year, including a summer session to provide students with ongoing education and therapeutic support.
NWSOIL is fully funded by school districts resources. The administration at NWSOIL can provide prospective/inquiring parents, agencies, and schools with information regarding the program and criteria for admission, but all placement requests are ultimately brought to NWSOIL through a district representative. We currently serve districts in the following counties: King, Pierce, Snohomish, North Mason and Thurston.
