Jewels Durham's creations reflect the wild beauty and adventure of her Pacific Northwest home. Although her focus is on glass carving, Jewels has expertise in all aspects of glass art. She has worked in glass for 25 years and has studied glass at Pilchuck Glass School, Pilchuck, WA. and the Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, N.Y. She has also apprenticed in beveling and traditional stained glass with master glass artist, James Powell and apprenticed in coldworking and blown glass under William A. Sargent.
Jewels founded Wapiti Glass Studio in 1995 where she continues to create original designs and custom pieces. She enjoys collaborating with other artists of many media, combining her work with theirs to create new art forms. Through offering classes in sandblasting Jewels is able to pass on her expertise and passion for glass.
Jewel's work has been exhibited in numerous juried shows and galleries and is included in private collections in England, Australia, South Africa, Sweden, Canada and the United States. Her work can be seen locally at Art Council of Snohomish County, Everett, the Renaissance Celebration in Fairhaven, and History of the World Fine Art Gallery, Camano Island.
