Really fascinating article, full of pessimistic futurism, with only shades of the grim meathook future. The future’s not scary so much as depressing and histrionic.
Note: I only agree with some of this. I think as it goes on, it gets a bit more sensationalist.

Interesting concept video, but it doesn’t just apply to books. The third concept, Alice, brings transmedia/ARG aspects to reading, and is definitely worth a look for anyone trying to put together a new media experience for your audience.
Specifically: Parallel chapters, character communication, nonlinear narrative.
The other two sections are cool, too, but Alice starts at 3:02 if that’s all you want.
