South Puget Sound HFH is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization.
Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.
In need of affordable housing? Find out more about South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanitys family partnership program.

Get Involved Volunteer, Donate, Sponsor
Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.

ReStore Quality Materials, Incredible Deals
Whether you are a contractor, homeowner, craftsman artist or designer you will find a wealth of interesting, inspiring and practical materials to complete almost any project at SPS Habitats Sound Builders' ReStore. You'll find our 18,000 sq. ft. retail space in downtown Olympia stocked with everything from vintage, one-of-a-kind items to new and surplus materials.

Blue Prints and Blue Jeans Published October 18th, 2010 by Amanda and Family

Amanda and her four children will be moving into their home at the Fairview Cottages near the end of this year. This on-going blog is the story of their journey to get their house built.
On October 2, 2010, I was given the opportunity to volunteer for SPS Habitat for Humanity’s annual dinner and auction. It was an AMAZING event and even working as a volunteer I had a wonderful time! I was able to mingle and meet several people and businesses that give support to Habitat for Humanity. The food was wonderful. The people at the event were pumped and you could seriously feel the energy in the room.
I certainly feel it is an event that all partner families should experience. I think it is important to see and meet people in the community that believe in and support Habitat for Humanity. The event was probably the fanciest event I have ever been to. Even though it was fancy it was loaded with fun. The room was consistently filled with laughter.
I feel very honored that I was asked and able to participate in the event. My house will be built by December 2010, however I already plan on working at this event every year. I met one of my neighbors at the event as she volunteers every year. My neighbor had such a great time the first time she made the event that she has dedicated herself to volunteer at the event every year!
I encourage those in the community to attend next years Blue Prints and Blue Jeans Dinner and Auction because you will experience something AMAZING!!!!

One year of the “new” ReStore Published October 14th, 2010 by Caleb

This month marks the one year mark of the ReStore at its new location at 415 Olympia Ave NE. It has been a great year, both for the customers of the ReStore as well as the progress of the ReStore. Over the course of the last year the support for the ReStore has never been better, and we can’t thank you guys enough! Donations to the South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity ReStore have never been higher, which has led to our highest sales ever, which in turn has led to growth in our ability to serve the low income families of Thurston County.
If you have been a customer over the last year you have also witnessed the changes from within the ReStore building itself. Going from a dark empty warehouse coming into its own in September of 2009, into a bright much more organized ReStore in September 2010 with our most recent change; moving all the flooring into a singular aisle. In the next year of the ReStore you, the customer, will continue to see positive changes in the ReStore’s layout and organization.
Below I leave you with some before and after pictures from before we moved in, to what the same areas look like today! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about the ReStore, please do not hesitate to contact us!

Auction Celebrates Habitat’s Success! Published October 4th, 2010 by Shannon

Thank you to all guests, volunteers, sponsors and supporters that made our 4th Annual Blueprints & Blue Jeans Dinner and Auction a rousing success this past Saturday! South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanitys Board of Directors welcomed over 140 guests in our agencys annual celebration of Habitats work in our local community. Not only did everyone have a great evening, enjoying the wonderful food, program and auction festivities, we also raised enough money to build an entire Habitat for Humanity house for a working family in Thurston County!
A special thank you to our generous event sponsors, Olympia Federal Savings, Anchor Bank, HomeStreet, Titus-Will and the matching fund a need sponsors, WSECU, McGladrey Inc., and Pete Mattich, State Farm Insurance agent. A big shout out to Jerry Farmer an amazing auctioneer – who donated his skills and humor ensuring everyone in attendance had an entertaining and wonderful evening. It is because of our communitys amazing support that all auction proceeds will go directly to support our mission of building decent, affordable homes in partnership with low-income families in need.
All of us here at South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity are inspired from the dedication and hard work of all the volunteers that made our dinner and auction such a success. Thank you!

THANK YOU September Lunch Providers!! Published September 22nd, 2010 by Tish

Twice a week (Wednesday and Saturday) local churches and organizations furnish lunches for the volunteers at the Habitat construction site. After pounding nails, painting walls and using all the tools necessary to put a home together they are a hungry group and greatly appreciate the lunches that are delivered to them! Our September lunch sponsors were: Altrusa Intl of Olympia, Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star-Olympia Chapter, First United Methodist Church, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, St. Andrews United Methodist Church and Trinity Lutheran Church. A big heartfelt thank you to the crews who devote their time and energy to make these lunches happen! Remember, you dont have to hold a hammer to volunteer at Habitat. Filling a lunch sack with goodies or cooking up a big pot of soup for the build teams is a great way to donate your time!
