Sometimes you may have a question if a soggy spot in your septic system is anything to be concerned about? It all depends. If its black and smelly, then it is. The black is not sewage, its a bacteria that forms when untreated sewage is being released. It does need to be addressed and can usually be fixed pretty easily and painlessly. Remember, a lot of a septic system is made of PVC pipe, and thats usually pretty inexpensive to repair. Just possibly a septic pumping and some PVC pipe. Sometimes, its a pump, or an on/off float switch. But mostly itsjust labor, and oh yeah, its gross.

Septic Tank Additives: I recently got a comment in my blog on septic tank additives. I am unsure if this is a legitimate post or if its spam. But everyone should read this below. As of today 6/12/2010 I have found no literature, or university studies that can prove claims of septic tank additives working.
