Authorized Birds-Eye View of the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition
In 1909 the Worlds Fair known as the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition was held on the campus of the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, Seen in these photos are Lake Washington, Union Bay and Puget Sound. In the center of the view above is Geyser Basin known today as Frosh Pond. The view is looking south with Mt Rainier in the distant left and Mt St. Helens on the far distant right.. It opened June 1st, and closed October 16th, It was and is the most important event in the history of Washington. In 2007 less than 2% of Seattle's population had ever heard of it. Hopefully, this year the education system will correct that.
This view is looking north with Mt. Baker looming in the background. Geyser Basid dominates the foreground.
A visitors map from 1909, These Exposition maps were frequently issued with the Daily Programs. This copy highlighted the Igorrote Village with a Star. The Igorrote Village was considered the "Premier Attraction" of the Pay Streak.
A University of Washington visitors map of today.
