SCUBA Diver Course
Sound Dive Center (SDC) is just a short 5 minute drive south on High Way 16, in Bremertons Auto Center. (map to SDC). You can train in a relaxed and professional atmosphere, with the most experienced dive training specialists in the north west. Sound Dive has served Central Kitsap and Silverdale for 35 years. Since our move to our new 6000 square foot dive center in 2004, travel time to Sound Dive Center has never been easier.

We specialize in teaching Family's, teens, kids and people just wanting to dive in the warm waters of Mexico, or Fiji or destinations that dreams are made off. When you "Jump into" a Sound Dive Center (SDC) SCUBA Diver course, it will be your pass to a lifetime of adventure in SCUBA Diving. This is the dive course that students from Central Kitsap and Silverdale have started their years of dive travel, adventure and exploration.

Why a SDC Open Water Course?
As a SDC Open Water Diver, you will receive a NAUI/PADI certification. A certification that is recognized the world over. You will receive the knowledge and experience of 35 years of serving the SCUBA community. We provide training at Olympic College, Olympic National Park (rangers), Scout groups and teen scuba camps. We teach at our state of the art Dive Center for most of our classes. Special class locations can be arranged.

Are you going on a exotic trip and need the training required to have the time of your life? We are the place. A SDC SCUBA diver is the admiration of divers the world over.

If you are in good health, comfortable in the water and of reasonable fitness, you can earn a SDC SCUBA Diver certification. You must be at least 12 years of age and there is NO MAX AGE Limit. We even have a special program for Teens & youth during the spring and summer breaks.

What takes place during my course?
You will learn the fundamentals of snorkeling and scuba diving. You will easily accomplish this by completing five swimming pool and academic sessions. Your five open water dives will be completed over a two day period. See our calendar for a schedule.

How long will it take?
The SDC courses typically takes 3 weeks, meeting twice a week (in the evening), usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays. With our 2 open water “check out” days on the weekend. Weekend course are available as requested. (beware of the weekend marathon "quickie class" that provides minimal water time and rushed instruction and usually requires costly remediation to complete certification). Nothing replaces time in the pool and openwater.

What about a "two weekend class"
"Weekend" classes should be the last resort. One of the large seattle "chair stores" run these "quickie" classes a couple of times a year. Only about 40% of the students make it thru these marathon weekends!

Your own speed
SDC believes that everyone learns at their own speed. We allow, in fact we encourage our customers to progress at their own speed. Yes, you can repeat the pool work, if you are not ready for Open water.

Leave the "MACHO" at home!
SDC believes that scuba diving is meant for the whole family. Kids, moms, dads, grandparents all feel comfortable with our fine group of diving educators. Women feel as comfortable with our programs, as do teens and youth. Unlike other programs the tough macho diver or instructor wont be found at SDC.

Standard Group Class
* Maximum of 8 students (having others in the class is fun and beneficial for your learning)
* 3-week class format (our most popular, you can have "a life" during this class)

* 1-4 Students max ( great for individuals, families with limited time or schedule)
* Flexible scheduling - class when you want it!

Instruction - Pool Fee’s - SCUBA Cylinders - Regulator -air -course text and dvd,
BCD with Integrated Weights - Dive Computer - Wet Suit - open water sessions and even the card. If you would like to do your check outs in a Dry suit, add $85.

Sound Dive Center has been serving the Military with MWR programs at Bangor and PSNS. We love to dive in Western Washington, on the Hood Canal, in Hoodsport and Brinon. Bremerton, Washington, Poulsbo, Bainbridge Island, Port Orchard, Kingston and Gig Harbor. We love working with Kitsap Kids,Teens and youth at our SCUBA Camps and Classes.
