EFA has built a reputation of integrity and distinction by designing and building structures that respond to their clients’ individual styles and patterns of use in a thoughtful manner. “We are not defined by any particular genre of architecture and strive to develop a form that is in collaboration with our client’s vision.” To provide this service, we have assembled a unique group of professionals under one roof. The EFA team includes an architect, designers, skilled builders, a custom millworks shop and a devoted support staff. This combination has allowed us to streamline communications between client and craftsmen. Our professional process keeps you informed on design, budget and the time line of production.
1. Architecture and Design
EFAs custom design team is led by licensed architect Erik Fagerland. We take you through a contemplative process of design that allows us and you to evaluate your needs through patterns of use, site and climate response, budget and desired style. Understanding your needs is key to translating the use into a style that is all your own. We strive to include energy efficient solutions, incorporating any green building techniques that will fit your program. EFA approaches each project with a sense of adventure, and this has allowed us to produce a body of work that is notable for its diversity.
Our construction management process has been developed over the last 16 years. Construction manager Christopher Woodby has been part of our design and build team for 14 of those years. He will work with you to oversee every detail of your project from site development to finished product. The EFA construction crew builds with quality workmanship at the forefront of every phase. We use not only time honored building practices, but many that we have personally developed for the extreme conditions of northwest coastal living.
In early 2000, we developed a Green Building Program that incorporates the use of lumber reclaimed from local structures that would otherwise be destroyed. Our millworks shop will hand craft unique doors, cabinets, coffee tables and entertainment centers. Bring us your ideas and we will design them into something that is distinctive to your new home or remodel. Many creations are built with wood from shipwrecks or buildings with a unique history.
