Alcoholism and other drug addictions are primary, chronic, progressive, physical diseases that are fatal when untreated. They destroy the individual physically, psychologically, socially, and spiritually. The effects are often mistaken for the cause. Our experience has shown that with effective treatment, chemically dependent persons can and do make a full recovery. Their self-respect and dignity are restored and they become full-functioning citizens.
