Olympia COmmunity School, a private progressive elementary school in olympia, Washington
Olympia Community School elementary education
Olympia Community School's mission is to provide quality elementary education that inspires, motivates, and challenges students. We empower children to reach their potential by nurturing their natural curiosity and desire to learn, their belief in themselves, and their ability to participate fully in their community with respect for self, others, and the earth.
OCS offers 2 year Kindergarten through 5th Grade
We now provide a full kindergarten through 5th grade program in our new central location. Our two year kindergarten option serves children aged 4-6. We envision OCS as a regional center of child-centered, progressive elementary education, and an enduring resource for our community. Contact our Board if youd like to get involved in helping to build this educational alternative in South Puget Sound.
Meeting the needs of children since 1973
Olympia Community School is Thurston Countys oldest secular independent school. Our children develop confidence through both academic and creative achievement. We believe that when children explore and develop knowledge and skills in a way that is personally relevant to them, they better learn to value their own perceptions, becoming self-directed in learning and in life. We encourage imagination and creative expression and believe it is essential in helping children to reach their full potential.
Join our community
Our families are the backbone of our community, united by our common goal of bringing our individual skills and knowledge to create a learning community. We work together to support our children in the challenge of growing and learning. We hope you will consider joining us.
