The Community Performing Arts Theater!
It began in April 2010 as a small band of dedicated volunteers tackled the cleaning and repairs to a building that was unused for many years. The old Everett Mall movie theater has three stage areas and numerous rooms for rehearsals and small performances. During the past months, you could have seen Myrna Overstreet chiseling gum off theater seats or Roger Pawley, way up on scaffolding as he transformed the interior lobby with paint. Day after day, they with a few others turned the existing purple/yellow colors into a warm welcoming space, mellowed by cream walls with beige accents. In the front, what had been a dated movie concession area has blossomed. When you visit, you will enjoy the art on the walls, small clusters of tables and a piano ready for a tune. Myrna remarked as she viewed the finished restoration that "The Everett Mall is making a huge contribution to the community by allowing us to re-purpose this old theater". Come down soon and peek in through our glass storefront. Or better still, call us (425-258-1605) and become a volunteer!!
Hundreds of supporters attend our Ribbon - Cutting!
The evening of August 26 was a driving rainstorm, but we were thrilled to have a near full house at the Community Performing Arts Theater. It was fun to see people walk inside the Everett Mall by Macys and gasp as they viewed our beautiful space. Close to three hundred came to watch Bob Drewel and Ron Friesen cut the ribbon and officially welcome all to our new home. In a short speech, Roger Pawley shared his determination to help the New Everett Symphony become more connected to their audiences. I have had a passion for many years he remarked to connect music and community building artistic citizenship does just that. The crowd enjoyed a selection of wines plus delicious coffees donated by Michaels Espresso in the Mall as they toured the main theatre with its unique parachute wall sconces. The 50 piece orchestra played up on wooden risers built by Ron Friesen. This was a rehearsal performance of the patriotic concert scheduled for the Monroe fair. As you can imagine, toes were tapping as folks left after a wonderful first night at the Community Performing Arts Theater or C-PaTh for short.
As part of our commitment to artistic citizenship, we have invited several other local performing arts groups to join us. We are happy to tell you that the Snohomish County Childrens Choir who are preparing for a December 12 concert, and Reunion Theatre Group who will present the first theatrical performance at C-PaTh Nov. 5 through Nov. 14, and the Everett Chorale are all settling into the Community Performing Arts Theater on a permanent basis and share with us its great location and fine acoustics. (Not to mention the very comfortable seating for the audience!)
Symphony tribute at Monroe Faireyewitness account!
"I participated in the Everett Symphony Orchestras performance at the Evergreen State Fair and I have to tell everyone: it was fantastic! Ron Friesen and the symphony put together a marvelous tribute to our military and emergency responder services.everything you might think should be in a tribute was in that concert: "the singing policeman, amazing Grace with a bagpiper, the local country western star, much talented new young singer, community choir, music by John Phillip Sousa, many beloved American anthems, beautiful pictures up on large screens of members of the armed services and emergency aid workers, the debut of new tribute music composed by a new young French composer, fireworks to end the evening with.
"I heard the Master of Ceremonies say that it will happen again next year, and you really do not want to miss this. Thank you Ron Friesen, the Everett Symphony Orchestra, and everyone who participated in this magnificent tribute. Well Done !"

Keys to the artistic Dream
On September 12, the New Everett Symphony hosted their second world class concert. Five very talented pianists shared the stage at this inaugural concert at our Community Performing Arts Theater. (C-PaTh in the Everett Mall)
Four young pianists from our area were showcased at this concert: Colin Hurkett, Stephen Binondo, Aaron Adams, and Krystle Maczka. The performances also featured Christine Foster who, after a 27 year hiatus as a successful attorney, recently returned to piano competition and to her surprise was a winner of this years Seattle International Piano Competition. (www.seattlepianocompetition.org) This concert was in preparation for her performance on September 19 at Benaroya Hall in Seattle.
Keys to the Artistic Dream concert was a huge success. Afterwards, the Everett Symphony Orchestra was touched to receive a personal note from Christine Foster. She thanked us for the performance opportunity, but stressed that even more essential is the ability to practice in a perfect environment. We are pleased that our volunteers have created a wonderful space for musicians.
