Pacific Northwest

Deception Falls on Highway 2 is a great example of the camping and hiking that the Northwest has to offer. Camping in the Cascades is as close as 30 minutes from campus.

Community Life

There are lots of coffee shops near our campus (this is Seattle, after all). One of the most popular ones, however, is “The Aerie,” which is part of the Student Center on our campus.

Spiritual Vitality

A candlelight march and prayer are the final events of Orientation for new students at Northwest University, and they mark the beginning of the academic year.

Athletic Competition

Cross Country is one of seven varsity sports at Northwest University. The others are Soccer (men/women), volleyball (women), basketball (men/women) and track and field (men/women).

Academic Excellence

The School of Nursing at Northwest is distinctive for its cross-cultural emphasis and its focus on integrating Christian faith into nursing. Nursing is one of more than 50 academic programs.

Northwest University now offers ten graduate degrees, including Master’s Degrees in Ministry, Management, Education, Counseling, Community Development, and Social Entrepreneurship.

Global Experience

Students in the School of Business and Management at Northwest University have opportunities to experience the dynamics of doing business internationally. A recent trip was to Sydney, Australia.

The San Juan Islands are a highlight of the Pacific Northwest. Bike-riding, whale-watching, and kayaking are some of their main attractions, not to mention the seafood.

Northwest University’s location in Seattle provides opportunities to experience and enjoy all the area offers, including kayaking in Puget Sound with the Seattle skyline in the background.

Music is a significant component of academic programs and ministry efforts at Northwest University. Programs include Music Education, Music Industry Business, and Music Ministry.

In addition to seven varsity sports, Northwest University offers intramural competition—including flag football—for both men and women.

More than 8,600 students have graduated from Northwest University, including Lisset Villa, who earned her B.A. in psychology in 2010. There are over 50 undergraduate academic programs.

The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Northwest University offers an M.A. in International Care and Community Development and an M.A. and Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology.

Seniors in the School of Nursing spend a month in a cross-cultural experience. That includes medical activities, as well as different modes of transportation, such as elephants in Sri Lanka.

Mt. Rainier is one of the icons of the Pacific Northwest and can easily be seen from Seattle on a clear day. The entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park is about an hour and a half from campus.

Northwest University is located on a wooded 56-acre campus just a few blocks from Lake Washington, on the eastside of Seattle, in Kirkland, Washington. It’s a beautiful place to study.

Men’s Soccer is one of seven varsity sports at Northwest University. Home games are played on our campus on a field that formerly was the training facility for the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.

You will be impressed by how much Northwest University’s professors know. But you will be even more impressed by how much they care. Dr. Ron Herms is Assistant Professor of Bible.

Each spring, seniors in the School of Nursing at Northwest University spend a month in a cross-cultural experience in places like Calcutta (above), Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Mexico, and Africa.

Discovery Park is Seattle’s largest Park. It is maintained in a semi-natural state on the former Fort Lawton and provides views of the Puget Sound, Cascades, and Olympics.

The Donald H. Argue Health and Sciences Center is the newest building on the Northwest University campus. It offers state-of-the-art science and nursing classrooms and laboratories.

Chapel meets three times each week for undergraduate students at Northwest University. It is a time of worship, fellowship, and growing in Christ.

Students in a Biology class examine a bovine lung. The class is a prerequisite for majors in Biology/Pre-Med and for those who will enter the School of Nursing at Northwest University.

Adults can earn a Bachelor’s Degree going to class just one night a week (with an occasional Saturday). Majors include Business Management, Ministry Leadership, and Psychology.

If you visit Italy, you can’t miss Pisa, and if you’re in Pisa, you can’t resist taking a photo that proves you’re holding the leaning tower. This was part of a trip by the Northwest Concert Choir.

Alki Beach in West Seattle is a large waterfront that offers spectacular views of the Seattle skyline—along with beach activities and a variety of restaurants—all about 25 minutes from campus.

The Box-Car Derby competition is part of “Screaming Eagle Week” each January at Northwest University. It is sponsored by Northwest University Student Government.

The Northwest Choralons are 100-plus singers who minister in local churches in addition to a tour each spring. Their latest CD, “Unashamed,” is available at Northwest University’s bookstore.

Women’s Soccer is one of seven varsity sports at Northwest University. The Eagles compete in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.

Northwest University offers more than 50 academic programs at the undergraduate level, including majors in Biology (Pre-Med), Nursing, Chemistry, and Environmental Science.

Hannah Bryant visited Greece as part of her Master’s Degree program in International Care and Community Development. She was doing research for her thesis on international human trafficking.
