Aikido is a non-violent, and non-competitive Japanese martial art which emphasizes blending, neutralizing, and controlling the force of an attack.
Students are taught to relax, focus energy, concentrate and move in harmony with a partner. Negative power from an attack is not met with conflict, but joined, interpreted, and redirected through the power of spiral movement. Because Aikido does not depend on physical strength, it is especially attractive to men and women of all ages.
Aikido improves physical conditioning, concentration, and mental clarity. It is a practical self-defense and helps develop balance and coordination.
Through Aikido training, the student finds the strength and confidence to control the conflicts that are faced everyday. As they refine their reaction to stress and pressure in the physical training, they can begin to refine their reaction to the stresses of life in their relationships with others.
